SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2001

at Little Prairie Bible Camp
Annual Meeting……..3:30
Dinner………………..5:00 – 7:00
Fall Festival………….5:00 – 7:30

The Fall Festival will again include a silent auction which has been very popular in the past.  Laura Light was primarily responsible for getting several hundred items for the auction last year.  The silent auction alone raised approximately $3200 for LPBC.  She is very busy with donations again this year.  If you have something to donate or would like to help solicit donations, please contact Laura at (573) 308-3472 or email.  The Fall Festival  is always a great evening of fun for the entire family (while raising money for LPBC.)  Make plans now to attend this very important event!

At the Annual Meeting six (6) Board Members will be elected to serve two (2) year terms.  The alternate who receives the most votes will serve the remaining one year of Chris Vidacovich’s term.  Chris has resigned and moved to Texas.  Candidates include:

bullet * John Dillard - Rolla
bullet * Bill Gillett - Rolla
bullet * Nathan King – Columbia
bullet * Ina Ruth McKune – Rolla

Highlights
(for complete details, come to the annual meeting)

Encampment

Camp is now being used from April through October.  Eight regular sessions of camp were held during June, July and August with approximately 550 campers.  Also, a number of groups have had weekend retreats, etc..  The East Sunshine Campus group started things off in April, followed by Family Work Camp and at least 6 youth/family retreats before and after regular camp.  We are delighted that the camp is being used so much.  If you are interested in using the camp during non- regular camp sessions, the procedure for reserving the camp is:  Contact the chairperson of the Encampment Committee (currently Ina Ruth McKune ((573) 341-5812) or email) is filling in for the chair).  She will get Board approval and then if the date is available, she will have the caretaker put it on the camp calendar.  The fee for Church of Christ groups is $50/day.

Camp Facilities

The craft house has been completed and was in full use this summer.  Thanks to everyone who helped in any way.  A new director’s cabin was started just before Family Work Camp and much progress was made during Family Camp by carpenters from several surrounding congregations.  Although there is still work to be done, it was used by campers during two (2) sessions this summer.  Thanks to John Dillard for being the “general contractor” on this major project and to everyone who contributed.  A very special thanks to the Greater Alton Church for their $1000 contribution and to the South County congregation in Ashland, Missouri for their generous $2000 contribution.  These 2 gifts took care of the majority of the expenses for the director’s cabin.  THANKS !!  Other accomplishments for the year include:  adding a layer of crushed rock to the road, painting the chapel roof, buying 100 all-weather chairs for the chapel and multipurpose building, installing a new dishwasher and sprayer in the kitchen, landscaping around the flagpole area.  Many thanks to Kenny Light for the great job he has done in leading this area of work for the past 2 years.  He will be leaving the Board next month.
