SOMETHING MUST BE DONE WITH THE "RED HOUSE"

The Board of Directors is requesting assistance from the membership in generating input and possible solutions for the Red House.  After careful study and speculation, reliable contractors have assured us that it is not possible to repair the Red House for use as a craft and canteen facility.  However, the board is sensitive to the sentimental feelings of those who
remember the Red House as the original nucleus of camp activity and as the only remaining original structure at LPBC.  Some suggestions that have been offered to preserve the memory of the Red House include selling the "red" boards from the house for use as personal craft projects such as picture frames OR using the red boards to construct a new canteen shack and pump
house.  The main advantages to tearing down the red house are removing the liability of a dangerous building and providing a location which is already equipped with running water and sewer hook up for a new craft and canteen facility.  We are asking for your input on either of these ideas or for possible solutions for preserving or restoring the house.    Please forward feedback and/or ideas to Linda Roberts: Fax# (Attn: Linda) 573-341-4880 or home 573-364-5635 or work (voice mail) 573-341-4105.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF LPBC

During the summer of 1999, we will have a celebration of 25 years of LPBC!  We need your help.  We would like to contact as many of the staff and campers of past years that we possibly can.  If you have their names and addresses, please send them to us as soon as possible.  (If you received this newsletter, we already have your name on file.)

LPBC MEMBERSHIP

We would like to remind you once again to mail in your annual membership dues.  The annual membership is only $20 per year (October to October) or a Life membership is $150 with $10 annual dues.

NEWSLETTERS AND APPLICATIONS

We are in the process of improving our mailing system for the newsletter and camp applications.  If you have moved or do move, please send us your new address.  If you know of someone who would like to receive the newsletter or applications for camp, please let us know and we will be very happy to send them one.

APPLICATIONS COMING SOON

Just about the same time the newsletters are being mailed, so should the applications.  If you do not receive yours within the next couple of weeks, please call Chris at 573-729-7511 and we will send you one.  Feel free to make copies for your friends, relatives and others at church.  Each congregation should receive 4 or 5 extra copies.  We are very excited about this year's theme of "Soul Improvement".  The past few years we have emphasized the kids having their own faith.  This year, we are going to provide them with the Biblical tools to help build that faith.

LIFEGUARDS

One of the challenges of camp each year is finding certified lifeguards for each session.  We hope we have found a solution.  This year LPBC is going to provide and pay for lifeguard certification in exchange for volunteering for one week at camp.  That means that we will provide training for you to be a lifeguard all summer, in exchange for at least one week of being a lifeguard at camp.  The training will take place at the LPBC pool June 1-5.  It will take 33 hours of training.  We need both men and women, young or old(er).  But you must sign up soon!  We need at least 6 people but no more than 10.  For more information or to sign up, please call Jackie Loudermilk at 573-341-2339.

LPBC GOLF TOURNAMENT

It won't be long until the weather is warm and we are out avoiding the prairie dogs for our annual Golf Tournament.  It will be held in June and more details will be coming to your congregation soon.  If you want more information, call Chris Vidacovich or Linda Roberts.
