Strategic Plan for LPBC – 2002

The Board of Directors will hold a Strategic Planning Retreat this spring or fall.  A Sub-Committee has been formed to pull together strategic plans and material from the past that can be used as ground work for the retreat.   The Sub-Committee consists of:

Larry Tubbs, Linda Roberts, Rick Prugh, Ed Hall and Cathy Cassidy.   At the retreat, we want to develop a strategic plan that will provide direction for LPBC over the next 10 years or so.  Do we want to remain pretty much status-quo or do we want to expand the activities and develop LPBC into a facility that can be used all year?   What are our goals for LPBC and what strategies do we need to implement to achieve these goals?   These are just a few questions that will be considered.    If you would like to have a voice in strategic planning for LPBC, please contact any board member.   We welcome your input.

Fund-Raising Report

Several fund raising events are planned again for this year.   In an effort to not overtax those who have supported LPBC so generously in the past, a decision was made to have fewer fund-raisers and to vigorously promote those we do have.

Fund-raisers for 2002:

“Super Sunday” Early Spring Larry Tubbs
Krispy Kreme Doughnut sale May 25 Bill Gillett
LPBC Golf Tournament Early June Linda Roberts
Fall Festival October 5

Annual Meeting/Fall Festival Report

The annual meeting of LPBC was held at the camp on October 6th in conjunction with the Fall Festival.   The Fall Festival was a great success again this year.  A big heartfelt thanks goes to all those who worked so hard and did a wonderful job of organizing, directing and implementing various parts of this project.  Connie Blackburn was in charge of the Festival.  Barbara King and Wilma Arthur provided a delicious turkey dinner.  Laura Light was in charge of the silent auction again this year. It netted approximately $3000.   Many thanks to all those who worked on setting up, tearing down and running the various booths, and to everyone else who contributed in any way.   Overall it was a special evening of fun and fellowship which resulted in $4645 for LPBC.

Six board members and four alternates were elected to the Board of Directors.

(See enclosed Board Member list)

Encampment Report

All sessions of camp have been scheduled and the directors assigned.    A new session has been added for Grades 1 & 2.  It is a 2 day-

3 night camp designed to prepare the kids for primary week.  The camp will be scheduled during the week of July 14-20.  The cost is $40.  The dates will appear on the camp application. Applications are scheduled to be mailed out before March 1st.   A total of 11 groups will be using the camp this summer.  This includes weekend camps.  The encampment committee has agreed to take care of the food arrangements for camp this summer.   Congregations will have an opportunity to contribute a specific item for all sessions.

Six walkie-talkies will be purchased for use by the directors and staff.

Cathy Cassidy, Treasurer, is the new Registrar.

Site Maintenance Report

A large number of projects were completed at camp last year; however, a lot still needs to be done.  The finishing touches need to be put on the craft house and the director’s cabin needs to be finished.  There is still a lot of work to be done on the inside of the cabin.  The refrigerators in the kitchen were repaired and the ones in the dining hall were checked out and found to be in good working order.   Other projects on the schedule include:
