December 1998 Newsletter

Fall Festival

On Saturday October 3, hundreds of people came from all over gathering at camp to celebrate Gods wondrous change in seasons. This years Fall Festival was the best ever. It was encouraging to see the love that Christians in the Rolla area have for young people. Little Prairie Bible Camp serves as a refuge from the world in a time when there are few places free from Satan's influences. Young people are bombarded daily with the temptations of this world and it is hard to resist. For many young people the one week they attend camp each summer is the only thing that gets them through to the next year. This 5 the reason LPBC exists. Without camp many young people would not come to know Christ.

Each of you who attended the Fall Festival played a part in ministering to the youth of our area, over four thousand dollars were raised. This is more than the Fall Festival had ever raised and twice what was raised last year. The Board of Directors thanks you as do the young people whose lives will be changed by your generosity.

A special thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the Fall Festival possible. Connie Blackburn, Linda Radford, Denny Radford. Terry Summerall. Chuck and Jennie Heidbreder for planning organizing, setting up and decorating. Jacque Loudermilk. Sherry Ternes, Ina Ruth McKune and Wilma Arthur for planning and cooking the outstanding meal that was served. This year Bill Gillett orchestrated a silent auction which raised more than any other single activity. Thank you Bill for your love hard work and life long commitment to Little Prairie. Thanks also to all those who stayed late to help clean up.

During the annual members meeting we took time to remember Gene VanMetre at a dedication ceremony for a gazebo that was built by the Rolla Senior High School Industrial Arts Class with gifts from those who new and loved Gene. Gene will live in our hearts forever and the gazebo will be a constant reminder of his dedication to Christ and his love for fellow man. The gazebo will serve as a place of quite devotion to God. Thank you Gene.

At the members meeting we also elected the new Board of Directors. Those elected and their phone numbers are listed on the back of this Newsletter. Please feel free to contact any of the Directors if you need anything or have a question about camp.

Encampment 98

1998 was another great year at Little Prairie. Over 300 young people attended 5 sessions of camp. The results were many who rededicated their lives to Christ and 11 who were baptized into His name. It is such an encouragement to see so many young people positively effected by Christ through the Camp. Many thanks to the Directors, Counselors, Junior Counselors, Cooks, and the rest of the staff who gave of there time and more importantly a part of their lives to make 1998 a great camp season.

Make Plans Now To Attend The 25 Year LPBC Reunion!

In the early 70's several people from the Rolla area had a dream to provide Christian camping. That dream came true in 1973 when 2 sessions of camp were held on 60+ acres just east of Rolla. Many people have contributed to this dream throughout the past 25 years and many eternities have been altered because of that dream.

Next summer we plan to celebrate 25 years of Little Prairie Bible Camp. On July 2-5 we will host a reunion encampment at LPBC. All who have ever participated in LPBC are invited and encouraged to attend. This weekend will be filled with memories and activities for all ages. This will also serve as our Family Encampment for 1999.

If you receive this newsletter you are on our mailing list. If you know anyone who has ever attended or supported LPBC over the years please invite them or send us their address so that we can contact them. We are also interested in pictures you have from years past of camp sessions that you can lend us so that we can share with others. Include your name and address with any picture you send and we will send it back to you when we are finished with it.

Craft / Canteen Facility

Construction on the new craft and canteen facility is underway! We are excited about having this completed for the 1999 camp sessions. If you would like to contribute to this facility in any way, please contact one of the members of the Board of Directors.
